Learning to Live – Living to Love
Maitland Baptist Church is a unique Christian presence in the Maitland district. It offers a wide variety of experiences for growth and change. It is a place which affirms and encourages the best expression of who you are and who you can be.
Maitland Baptist Church is a church committed to our community. We connect with some 1200 families each week through our children ministries such as our Sunday Kid’s Church and Creche, Play Centre (Monday and Tuesday), Long Day Care Centre (79 Place) and our Before and After School Care (9 Centres), which includes 4 Vacation Care centres. In addition, we cater for our youth through our “Move Youth” group who meet every Friday. We recognise that we don’t exist for ourselves but for those who live in and around us. We believe that God has called us to live out love rather than just speak about it.
While we are a church with a heart for families, we are made up of people from all ages and backgrounds. You will find here group meetings from infancy to retirement. If you have any questions about who we are and what we do, don’t hesitate to call us or browse through our website.
To be a church where God’s people are learning to live and living to love as they follow the example of Jesus. A church where people from differing backgrounds experience belonging as they connect with others, as they celebrate stories of God’s power at work and as they generously contribute to the needs of one another. A church that reaches out beyond its walls in order to bring people to an awareness and acceptance of Jesus Christ. A church committed to enriching the community that surrounds it. A church which seeks to reproduce in others the DNA of the Jesus way of life – that is, a Love for God and a love for others.
Our Creche looks after our babies from 0-2 years in an environment that provides lots of activities and stimulation, giving parents the opportunity of enjoying the Church Service. Children aged 3 -5 years have a varied program that encourage our kids to explore their relationship with God. There are lots of opportunities for worship, creative expression, as well as loads of fun and games.
Kid’s Church at Maitland Baptist Church caters for children from 1st to 6th Grade with programs developed for each age group by our committed team of passionate Church leaders. Once a year, we also have Kid’s Camp for children in Primary School which is a fantastic weekend away with a packed program of fun, laughter and a few practical jokes. Kids interact in drama, singing as well as lots off competitions and outdoor activities.
Play centre is a play group for pre-school kids and parents which operates Monday and Tuesday during school term from 10 am to noon. We currently have facilities for 30 mums, dads and carers per session. The normal routine is a time of general playing, doing craft, story telling/singing followed by lunch for children and morning tea for the adults. Play centre is not just for children. Many of the members have formed lasting friendships from encouraging one another through the challenges of parenting.
DeepEnd is a group of young adults that endeavours to do our faith, not just learn about it, but share it and truly love each other and everyone we meet because of the love we first received. It’s a fun and safe place to practice your faith, serve, minister to others, share your doubts and struggles and engage in strong community.
We often meet Thursday night in the foyer from 7pm.
